Friends Of Duxford Visit to RNAS Yeovilton On April 20, 2005, a group 30 FoD members travelled to RNAS (Royal Naval Air Station) Yeovilton (HMS Heron) for what has become an annual visit. With excellent assistance from the base RN visits officer in conjunction with the Royal Navy Historic Flight (RNHF) and Fleet Air Arm Museum (FAAM) Reserve Collection, Cobham Hall, a busy itinerary for the day was agreed upon and organised.
Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visit The FoD committee draws up a list of events each year, that it runs for its members. This year, for the first time a visit to the Battle of Britain memorial flight at RAF Coningsby was arranged. From concept to finalisation it took nearly a year to prepare.
Duxford 'North Side' Tour Yet another unforgetful day at Duxford, the opportunity to look round some of the Museum's reserve collections and archives located in the non-public part of the IWM Duxford Site.
Autumn Air Show The Autumn Air Show was the last show at Duxford for the season. As with all air shows at Duxford the Friends had their hospitality marquee and enclosure with a constant supply of tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits.
Friends of Duxford Visit to Air Atlantique On Sunday 6th August, a group of Friends gathered at Coventry Airport for a tour of Air Atlantique's Hangars and Historic Fleet. The original intention had been to incorporate a flight in one of the historic aircraft. However, an unfortunate chain of events in the preceding weeks led to none of the aircraft being available. The DC-3 had blown an engine on landing, whilst the Twin Pioneer was suffering from an excessive magneto drop. Of the two Rapides, one was stuck at White Waltham with a blown cylinder whilst the other was part way through a thorough overhaul.
